	Proficient 3 pts	Basic 2 pts	Developing 1 pts	Unsatisfactory 0 pts
Home position	Proficient Right hand starts and stays correctly in home position for the entire song.	Basic Right hand moves from home position occasionally.	Developing Right hand moves from home position often OR right hand does not start in home position but finds it.	Unsatisfactory Left hand is used OR right hand is never in home position.
Notes	Proficient All of the notes are played correctly.	Basic One or two incorrect notes are played.	Developing Several incorrect notes are played.	Unsatisfactory Very few correct notes are played.
Rhythm	Proficient All of the rhythms are played correctly.	Basic One or notes are played with an incorrect rhythm.	Developing Several incorrect rhythms are played.	Unsatisfactory The rhythm is incorrect.
Steady Beat/Tempo	Proficient The beat and tempo are the same throughout. There is no stopping and starting.	Basic The beat and tempo are the same throughout. There is one slight pause.	Developing There is one long pause OR the performer has to start over from the beginning.	Unsatisfactory There is more than one major pause OR the performer starts over more than once.
Attitude	Proficient The performance shows pride and respect. The performer sits with good posture and does not speak or laugh while playing.	Basic The performance shows pride and respect. The performer must be reminded to sit with good posture.	Developing The performer speaks while playing OR the performer does not adjust posture when corrected.	Unsatisfactory The performance lacks pride and respect. The performer sits with poor posture.
