Student grasped the concept of correctly sewing embroidery stitches with minimal guidance. Student completed a basic toy design with 3 or more good embroidery stitches and extra details eg. sequins.

Tapestry

Student completed an aesthetically pleasing tapestry square with minimal guidance. Tapestry has slight gaps, wool threads or knots showing. Student then completed a cushion cover.
Excellent

Student independently completed a complex designed tapestry square that was stitched to a high standard with no gaps, loose threads or knots. Student then made into a cushion cover, which was well made and fully complete.
Pin cushion

Assignment not completed

Student did not attempt to start a pin cushion.
Poor

Student completed only the top of pin cushion using different zig zag stitches. Student sewing was not straight, did not trim loose threads or sew completely from top to bottom edges.
Satisfactory

Student finished pin cushion to a poor quality level. Different stitches were used on the top though not always straight. Corners were not properly pushed out, hand sewn closure very rough or cushion not stuffed adequately.
Very good

Student finished pin cushion well. A variety of stitches were used on the top in a cross hatched pattern. Cushion was turn out well, though some loose threads showing. Hand stitched closure is good though obviously rushed.
Excellent

Student completed pin cushion very well with precise straight lines, variety of zig zag and patterned stitches used in more than one colour and done in a cross hatch pattern. Corners are pointy, all threads cut, hand sewn closure is neat and cushion is firm with stuffing.

Student demonstrated strong level of creativity through the use of different embellishments, interesting stitch types and thoughtful designs.

Student demonstrated high levels of creativity through the use of complex designs, interesting embellishments, creative stitch types and variety of colours.
Time Management

Use of class time, working speed

Student did not attempt to use class time effectively each lesson.
Poor

Student made little effort to use class time effectively. Student worked at a slow rate due to talking with friends, distracting others or misbehaving.
Satisfactory

Student has made a solid attempt at using class time effectively though works at a slow speed due to perfecting work, not being able to work without teacher guidance or constantly making mistakes that need redoing.
Very good

Student has used class time effectively, though could work faster with less talk more work, having a go at problems unassisted or being more decisive about designs.
Excellent

Student has used class time well every lesson by working independently, responsibly, quietly and efficiently.
