Vocabulary	Poor Student couldn't use most vocabulary words and expressions from the ones seen in class. He/she couldn't elaborate on his ideas because he lacked the vocabulary.	Fair Student used basic vocabulary and expressions from the ones seen in class in his/her answers.	Good Student used a good number of vocabulary words and expressions from the ones worked on in class.	Excellent Student showed an ability to use vocabulary words and expressions to express his/her ideas.
Accuracy	Poor Poor use of grammar. Meaning is often unclear. Many errors.	Fair Adequate use of grammar. Meaning is sometimes unclear. Some errors are still present.	Good Good use of grammar. Meaning is mostly clearly conveyed. A few errors are still present.	Excellent Excellent use of grammar. Meaning is very clear. Very few errors present. Ideas were expressed clearly.
Task Completion	Poor Student wasn't able to carry out a conversation. He/she showed lack of understanding. Also, he/she had difficulty expressing his/her opinions and wasn't able to justify most of them.	Fair Student was somewhat able to carry a conversation. He/she omitted some of the questions. Or gave short responses for some of them. Also, he/she was able to state some of his/her opinions but most of these were poorly justified.	Good Student was able to carry a conversation. He/she also showed an understanding of what he/she was asked. Most is ideas were clear. But justifications for opinions were limited or omitted at points.	Excellent Student was able to carry out a conversation on the given topics successfully. He/she showed an ability to express elaborate ideas and to justify them with a high level of confidence.
Speaking Mechanics	Poor Fluency was poor. The conversation was filled with long pauses. There was very little rhythm. This showed a lack of ability in using stress, intonation as well as other speech patterns. .	Fair Fluency was acceptable. There was little evidence of awareness or ability to manage intonation or stress patterns in English.	Good There was a good sense of fluency to this conversation. The student showed awareness and ability to manage intonation, pauses and stress patterns in English.	Excellent Fluency was native-live. Student showed an ability to follow the natural rhythm of the language. Making stresses, and pauses where expected.
