Student was able to carry a conversation. He/she also showed an understanding of what he/she was asked. Most is ideas were clear. But justifications for opinions were limited or omitted at points.
Excellent
Student was able to carry out a conversation on the given topics successfully. He/she showed an ability to express elaborate ideas and to justify them with a high level of confidence.
Speaking Mechanics
Poor
Fluency was poor. The conversation was filled with long pauses. There was very little rhythm. This showed a lack of ability in using stress, intonation as well as other speech patterns. .
Fair
Fluency was acceptable. There was little evidence of awareness or ability to manage intonation or stress patterns in English.
Good
There was a good sense of fluency to this conversation. The student showed awareness and ability to manage intonation, pauses and stress patterns in English.
Excellent
Fluency was native-live. Student showed an ability to follow the natural rhythm of the language. Making stresses, and pauses where expected.
