	Below Standard 1 pts	Approaching Standard 2 pts	Meets Standard 3 pts	Exceeds Standard 4 pts
Pitch	Below Standard Many errors occur in pitches, note values, and rest values (more than 4). Tonal center is not apparent. Intonation is inaccurate.	Approaching Standard Frequent errors in pitches, note values, and rest values are evident (3/4). Tonal center needs to be more apparent. Intonation is frequently inaccurate.	Meets Standard Pitches, note values, and rest values are correct some of the time (1 or 2). Exhibits occasional lapses in a sense of tonal center. Intonation is occasionally inaccurate.	Exceeds Standard Pitches, note values, and rest values are performed correctly Exhibits an outstanding sense of tonal center. Intonation is outstanding.
Rhythm	Below Standard Many errors occur in note and rest values. (more than 4) Rhythmic energy and a sense of steady pulse are not evident.	Approaching Standard Frequent errors occur in note and rest values. (3 or 4) Rhythmic energy and a sense of steady pulse are compromised.	Meets Standard Occasional errors occur in note and rest values. (one or two) Consistent rhythmic energy and a sense of steady pulse are emerging. Fluidity	Below Standard There are numerous stops and starts.	Approaching Standard Frequent stops and starts (3 or 4).	Meets Standard There is one/two breaks in a fairly consistent tempo.	Exceeds Standard The exercise is sung in a consistent tempo with no starts or stops.
