Making a Table
1 pts

Demonstrates students' ability to make a table of data given a problem situation.

Poor

Table has many major errors. No explanation is given for how the walking rates affect the data.
Fair

Table includes several errors and description of how the walking rates affect the data is inaccurate or incomplete.
Good

Table includes one or two minor errors, but includes a complete/accurate description of how the walking rates affect the data.
Excellent

Table includes labels for dependent and independent variables as well as data for all 3 students. Data listed in table is accurate. Includes a thorough and accurate description of how walking rate affects the data in the table for each Jeff, Manuel, and Alana.
Making a Graph
1 pts

Demonstrates students' ability to make a graph for a problem situation.

Poor

Graph has many major errors. No explanation is given for how the walking rates affect the lines.
Fair

Graph has several errors and description of how the walking rates affect the lines is inaccurate or incomplete.
Good

Graph has one or two minor errors, but includes a complete/accurate description of how the walking rates affect each line.
Excellent

Graph is drawn with a ruler and includes a key and a title. Each axis is labeled correctly and includes an appropriate scale for the data. Data points are plotted correctly and connected with a line. Includes a thorough and accurate description of how the walking rates affect each line.
Writing an Equation
1 pts

Demonstrates students' ability to write an equation for a problem situation.

Poor

Equations are missing or have many major errors. No explanation is given for how the walking rates affect the equations.
Fair

Equations have a few errors and description of how the walking rates affect the equations is inaccurate or incomplete.
Good

Appropriate variables are not used in the equation, or the equation is not in slope-intercept form, but is a correct representation of the relationship between variables. (Example: Manuel: d/t =2) Includes a description of how walking rates affect each equation.
Excellent

A correct equation is written in y=mx+b form for each student's walking rate. Equation includes the appropriate variables. Includes a description of how the walking rate affects each equation.
(Answers: Jeff: d=1t, Manuel: d=2t, Alana: d=2.5t)
Answer Questions/Make Predictions
1 pts

Demonstrates students' ability to use the graph, table, and/or equation to answer questions and make predictions.

Poor

Many major errors are made in calculations. No work is shown or explanations are given.
Fair

Several errors are made in calculations. May be missing some work or explanations. Labels are not included in answers.
Good

A few minor errors are made in calculations, but all/most work is shown and explanations are given for answers.
Excellent

All parts of Question 4 (a,b,c) are answered accurately/correctly. All calculations are shown and/or thorough explanations are given. Labels are included in answers, where appropriate.
Identify Linear Relationships
1 pts

Demonstrates students' ability to identify if a relationship is linear by analyzing a graph, table, or equation.

Poor

Demonstrates no understanding of constant rate of change. Does not correctly identify the linear relationships and does not include an explanation.
Fair

Demonstrates a limited understanding of constant rate of change. Does not correctly identify the linear relationships and/or lacks an explanation.
Good

Demonstrates an understanding of constant rate of change. Makes one or two minor errors in identifying the linear relationships in Question 5 (ex: names the last equation as linear because it has two variables), or does not thoroughly explain why these relationships are linear.
Excellent

Demonstrates a solid understanding of constant rate of change and how this appears in a table, graph, or equation. The linear relationships in Question 5 are identified correctly and include a thorough explanation.
