Organic shape/neg space pattern design using colored pencils/markers that shows understanding of an organic shape approx. 50% of the format space colored using a color family. Negative space (behind the Organic shape) is filled with a repeating pattern of the opposite color family as the organic shape. Neatness, correct repeating of pattern, mastery of blending/using colored pencil/marker is a must. Use of pattern, rhythm, unity	Advanced Pattern, rhythm and unity is created through use of a well designed pattern and color scheme. Ruler was used if necessary.	Proficient Pattern, rhythm and unity are present. Design is off balance, irregular. Pattern needed the use of a ruler.	Basic Pattern, rhythm and unity are not all present. Design is incomplete, unbalanced.	Emerging Design does/does not include pattern, incomplete.
Skill of materials	Advanced Color use, mixing, blending, and transition is excellent, high quality.	Proficient Color use, mixing, blending, and transition are good. Better than average quality.
