Dexterity	Poor Student holds instrument improperly, preventing successful production of sound (much squeaking and/or incorrect pitches).	Fair Student holds instrument incorrectly but manages production of sound (ex: playing with the wrong hand).	Good Student holds instrument correctly and properly, producing the desired sound.
Rhythm	Poor Student does not/is not able to play/strike the instrument properly, failing to produce the desired sound.	Fair Student is able to play the music but with some inaccuracies and inconsistencies.	Good Student plays the instrument properly, consistently counting rests and notes correctly.
Melody	Poor Song is unrecognizable or no sound is produced.	Fair Parts of the song are missing, but at least half is played correctly.	Good Song is well performed to the end.
Respectful Care	Poor Student treats instrument negligently with disregard to value, jeopardizing the integrity and wholeness of the instrument.	Fair Student is clumsy with instrument, though not willfully negligent.	Good Student treats instrument with care and respect, being careful not to damage any part.
