Sugar Skulls
Authentic looking sugar skulls (calaveras) for Los Dias de Los Muertos were created. 2D designs were pushed to become 3D masks. Creativity in terms of how to transfer ideas into the 3D realm was needed in terms of problem solving in all construction phases. Effort always gains us success when we are in the right mind set and follow the creative process.

Creativity / Risk Taking

Poor

Creativity would have benefited from a thought out design, which considered the shape of the skull and the design on it. Lacks evidence of creativity, risk taking and follow through.
Fair

Creativity is there. Would benefit from more follow through with brainstorming possibilities. A job well done but played safe. Design is there but not fully developed to resemble a true sugar skull.
Good

Creativity is evident in the basic skull shape, pose and painted design. Design is a major player in terms of paint and skull pose. I took many creative risks to go beyond the normal in rendering a sugar skull.
Craftsmanship

Poor

Craftsmanship shows many flaws that affect the look of the project: weak construction, ratty edges, or painting lacks precision. Doesn't show a sense of pride or an attention to detail.
Fair

Craftsmanship shows a few imperfections on an otherwise solid project. Painting may lack precision only in certain areas or skull may have a piece or two not smooth. Shows attention to detail with only a few areas that were overlooked.
Good

Craftsmanship in which paint is fine tuned with second coats. Skull is smooth with no loops or jagged paper hanging. Skull is sturdy well constructed. Shows pride in work due to attention to all details.
Effort / Time Management

Poor

Focus on this project was a problem which lead to results that were not my best. Project was over simplified so that I would get it done rather than doing my best.
Fair

I used every minute of class time with few exceptions. I gave a great effort and managed time to finish on-time with out sacrificing my design.
Good

All of class time was used. At times I had to think of ways to construct my ideas. I was creative problem solving as I created. I gave all my effort in using the creative process.
