Requirements	Poor Complete disregard for instructions and lack of effort.	Fair Missing requirements and as a result the project loses its appeal.	Good Missing one or two key required elements. The overall project remains intact.	Excellent Requirements fully met.
Content	Poor Does not provide enough text to supplement illustrations or to successfully tell a story or gives inaccurate information.	Fair Provides information in a disjointed, manner and omits necessary information.	Good Provides necessary information, but is missing key information that would complete the story or make it more interesting.	Excellent Provides pertinent, historically accurate material. It is clear that the student researched the topic before beginning the project.
Writing	Poor Writing is copied from another source or the grammar and spelling errors take away from the overall project.	Fair Fails to convey the infromation at the appropriate level (either too complicated or too simplified). Handwriting is messy and project is rife with simple mistakes.	Good Attempts to tell a story or provide facts at the appropriate level. Has minimal grammatical and spelling errors.	Excellent Successfully conveys complex information in a simplified and interesting manner. The handwriting is neat and free of grammatical and spelling errors.
Illustrations	Poor Does not provide enough illustrations to complement written work. Drawings are done in pencil or sketches are messy.	Fair Sketches and drawings seem rushed. The ideas are there, but the actual illustrations lack the effort.	Good Pictures are neat and colorful, but lack some aesthetic appeal.	Excellent Pictures are neat, colorful, and aesthetically appealing. Successfully complement the written text.
Creativity	Poor The overall project lacks a creative approach and initiative.	Fair It is evident that little time and effort was devoted to the layout of the project.	Good Layout and design is neat and thorough. The overall project, however, lacks a unique approach.	Excellent Layout is done in a unique and thoughtful manner with a varied combination of text and illustrations. A personal flare is added to the project.
