St Stephen Basketball Games Assessment
Beavercreek Middle School Basketball Skills Assessment
This rubric is used to outline each individual athlete's performance on the day of tryouts. It is to judge their current condition as well as their future potential for the team. Each participant will be judged equally with no bias opinion. All decisions made will be for the maximum benefit of the Beavercreek Middle Schools basketball teams for the 2013-14 season. All decisions made are final.

-Student passes the ball correctly

-Student usually makes sure their teammate is ready for the pass
Exemplary
-Student passes the ball with precision and accuracy
-Student passes so that their teammate can receive it with ease
Layups
Below Basic
-Student is unable to demonstrate the basic shooting technique and footwork when performing a lay-up.
Basic
-Student performs the lay-up with dominant hand with improving technique. Accuracy and more consistent use of backboard is needed.
Proficient
-Student performs lay-ups with dominant hand with growing confidence and is working to improve lay-ups with non-dominant hand.
-Lay up is technical correct but not fluent yet
Exemplary
-Student performs lay-ups with either hand consistently and confidently with refined technique and speed.
Shooting
Below Basic
-Student cannot shoot the ball successfully.
-Student does not follow through.
-Student uses two hands to shoot
Basic
-Student sometimes shoots the ball with success
-Student sometimes follows through.
-Student uses two hands instead of one to shoot.
Proficient
-Student shoots the ball correctly.
-Student follows through.
-Student is usually successful in shooting.
Exemplary
-Student shoots the ball demonstrating the "BEEEF" technique
-Bend/Balance, Elbow, Eyes, Extend, Follow-through
- Student demonstrates excellent accuracy
Defense

-Has difficulty maintaining defensive positioning.
