Nutrition Project Rubric 
Students will complete a project related to health and wellness, including but not limited to; nutrition, healthier eating, food industry, commercial farming practices, government oversight, or other topics approved by the teacher. The project format will also be variable and subject to approval. Suggested formats: research papers, personal food journals, videos, presentations, book reviews. Objective: To develop life-long understanding and practices resulting in a healthier body.

Student carefully analyzed the information collected and drew appropriate and inventive conclusions supported by evidence. Voice of the student writer is evident. Growth in a personal level is evident.

Fair

Student conclusions could be supported by stronger evidence. Level of analysis lacking depth. Limited evidence of new learning or personal growth is apparent.

Poor

Excellent

Student effectively and creatively used appropriate communication tools to convey their conclusions and demonstrated thorough, effective research techniques. Product displays creativity and originality.
Good

Student effectively communicates the results of research to the audience.
Fair

Student fails to clearly communicate the purpose and/or information gathered.
Poor

Student showed little evidenct of thoughtful research. Product does not effectively communicate information of project topic.
Writing Mechanics

Excellent

All written materials are error-free. Correct spelling, punctuation, sentence construction, and grammar.
Good

Written materials are mostly error free. (No more than 3/written page or equivalent)
Fair

Many errors present. (>3/page) Detracts from fluidity of written information.
Poor

No effort is apparent in proof-reading or self-editing. No regard for proper grammar, punctuation, spelling, or good writing mechanics.
