Touching Spirit Bear: Totem Pole Project Touching Spirit Bear: Totem Pole Project The student will create a 2D or 3D totem pole using six symbols that represent his/her life. The totem pole must be accompanied by an explanation of the symbols and how they are important to/represent the student. OVERALL Work quality/effort/Punctua Punctuality	Excellent The work done exceeds all expectations. The effort put into this task is the best it can be by the learner. AND project was turned in by the due date given.	Good Work is done with good effort that shows the capability of the learner. It is evident that time was put into this project. AND/OR project was turned in 1 day (NOT CLASS) after the given due date.	Fair Work is done with fair effort, but the quality is not what the learner is capable of. It is evident that the work was rushed. AND/OR project was turned in 1 class (2days) after the given due date.	Oops! Work is done with little effort, shows lack of quality, and may be incomplete. It is evident little time was spent on the final product. AND/OR project was turned in 3 or more days after the given due date.
Totem Pole- CREATIVITY	Excellent The totem pole has an element of creativity, style, and neatness.	Good The totem pole is clear and logical and contains very few mistakes.	Fair The totem pole shows some understanding of the subject matter, but contains errors. It lacks style, neatness and clarity.	Oops! The totem pole does not reveal a clear understanding of the subject matter and there are many errors. It lacks neatness and clarity.
Totem Pole - SYMBOLS	Excellent There are 6 strong symbols represented on the totem pole.	Good There are 4-5 strong symbols represented on the totem pole.	Fair There are 3-2 strong symbols represented on the totem pole.	Oops! There is 1 strong symbol represented on the totem pole.
Written Report	Excellent The report presents the symbols clearly, and explains a complete understanding of symbols and their representation/ connection to student. All 6 symbols explained thoroughly. No grammatical/spelling errors noted.	Good The report presents the information clearly and explains a reasonable understanding of the symbols and their representation/connection to the student. Only 4-5 symbols were explained OR 1-3grammar/spelling errors noted.	Fair The report does not present the information in a clear way. The symbols do not explain representation/connection to student in a meaningful way. Only 2-3 symbols explained/OR 4+ grammatical/spelling errors noted.	Oops! Not enough preparation was done for the report of the symbols. It therefore lacks the expected elements. Only 1 symbol explained.
Presentation	Excellent The student presents the information clearly and displays a complete understanding of their information. It is evident that the student was well prepared.	Good The student presents the information fairly clearly and displays a reasonable understanding of their information.	Fair The information presented is not clearly displayed throughout the project.	Oops! Not enough preparation was done for the presentation of the information, it therefore lacks many elements of what is expected.
