Sufficient scientifically sound evidence is presented, so as to support arguments made.

A large amount of evidence is presented, which is scientifically sound.
Thinking
Poor
Student does not have grasp of information; student cannot answer questions about subject.
Fair
Student is uncomfortable with information and is able to answer only rudimentary questions.
Good
Student is at ease with expected answers to all questions, but fails to elaborate.
Excellent
Evidence presented clearly supports arguments made. Connections made and conclusions drawn are logical and reasonable.

Poor
Audience cannot understand argument because there is no sequence of information. Show limited evidence of preparation
Fair
Audience has difficulty following argument because student jumps around. Show some evidence of preparation.

Student presents information in logical sequence which audience can follow. Show sufficient evidence of preparation.
Excellent
Student presents argument in logical, interesting sequence which audience can follow. Shows clear evidence of preparation.
Professionalism
Poor
Significant unprofessional language is used, sportsmanship and respect need improvement.
Fair
Some unprofessional language is used and/or respect and sportsmanship is sometimes evident.
Good
Student presents arguments with mostly professional language. Sportsmanship and respect are evident.
Excellent
Student presents their arguments in professional language, and demonstrates respect and good-sportsmanship.
Eye Contact
Poor
Student reads all of report with no eye contact.
Fair
Student occasionally uses eye contact, but still reads most of report.
Good
Student maintains eye contact most of the time but frequently returns to notes.
Excellent
Student maintains eye contact with audience or opponent, and seldom returning to notes.
Elocution
Poor
Student mumbles, incorrectly pronounces terms, and speaks too quietly for students in the back of class to hear.
Fair
Student's voice is low. Student incorrectly pronounces terms. Audience members have difficulty hearing presentation.
Good
Student's voice is clear. Student pronounces most words correctly. Most audience members can hear presentation.
Excellent
Student uses a clear voice and correct, precise pronunciation of terms so that all audience members can hear presentation.
