Pen Holder Base Salt & Pepper Shakers Students will use the milling machine and surface grinder to square a block of steel, and then use brazing technology to deposit decorative brass weld beads. Students will add a pen holder attachment, preferably designed and manufactured by the student. 	Level 4 90 pts	Level 3 80 pts	Level 2 70 pts	Level 1 50 pts
Completion	Level 4 Pen holder base is complete as in level 3, plus student has designed and manufactured his or her own pen holder attachment and installed it.	Level 3 Pen holder base is complete including all milling, surface grinding, and brazing operations.	Level 2 Pen holder base is almost complete, but one operation did not get completed.	Level 1 More than one operation is not complete.
Quality	Level 4 Project meets level 3 plus student has done some creative, comprehensive brazing and/or incorporated some other artistic augmentation.	Level 3 Pen holder base meets dimensional specifications and grinding, brazing, and polishing have resulted in an aesthetically pleasing project.	Level 2 Pen holder base does not quite meet dimensional and/or other print specifications.	Level 1 Pen holder does not meet print specifications.
Planning and Problem Solving	Level 4 Student is able to use classroom instruction, peer resource, and technical documentation to manufacture products independently. Process log is complete and comprehensive.	Level 3 Student manufactures product with little teacher intervention using effective planning, problem solving, and teamwork skills. Student completes a daily process log.	Level 2 Student has needed a considerable amount of teacher intervention to complete project. Student usually completes a daily process log.	Level 1 Student is unable to work in the shop without process-by-process set-up, instruction, and encouragement. Student rarely completes a daily process log.
Work Habits	Level 4 Student has gone above and beyond to ensure the shop remains a safe and comfortable place to work.	Level 3 Student demonstrates safe work practices, behaviours, and good housekeeping at all times.	Level 2 Student usually demonstrates safe work practices, behaviours, and good housekeeping.	Level 1 Students has not demonstrated safe work practices, behaviours, and/or good housekeeping.
