Meets Expectations Entry is appropriate in length for the idea, connection or question being explained.	Exceeeds Expectations Entry length shows the student put extra effort and time into responding to the book.
Critical Thinking Does the student's responses demonstrate critical thought about the text?	Needs Improvement The student's responses do not demonstrate critical thought about the text. Student response is a retell with no ideas about the book.	Meets Expectations The student's responses demonstrate critical thought about the text. Student response has one idea present.	Exceeeds Expectations The student's responses demonstrate superior critical thought about the text. Student response has at least two ideas present.
Use of Examples Does the student's response demonstrate the use of supporting examples.	Needs Improvement Student response does not have any examples to support their ideas.	Meets Expectations Student response has at least one example to support the idea stated.	Exceeeds Expectations Student response has several examples which support the ideas stated.
