Introduction to Lit 11: Literary Devices in Song Oral Presentation 9: Poetry Due 3/15/11 Students will present a song or poem and examine lyrics/lines using poetic terms studied in class. Students may choose to work alone or with a partner. All content of songs or poems must be appropriate for school. Intro; Rhyme and Meter	Excellent Group begins with an engaging introduction of song including hook, title and author, and a thesis statement which covers the main points of the presentation.	Good Group introduces song or poem including title and author.	Fair Group insufficiently introduces song. Group is not prepared for presentation.
Poetic Devices	Excellent Group thoroughly examines five examples of poetic devices in the song and correctly uses terms learned in class. .	Good Group attempts to examine poetic devices learned in class but fails to correctly use terms.	Fair Group does not correctly use terms learned in class.
Presentation Skills/Organization	Excellent Group chooses a suitable song which produces an engaging and well-organized presentation, demonstrating excellent presentation skills. Group is engaging and uses correct grammar. Group makes eye contact with audience.	Good Group chooses a song or poem that does not contain rich figurative language and/or imagery and/or meaning to discuss. Group produces a presentation which shows some organization, engages the audience some of the time. Group demonstrates good presentation skills with few grammatical errors.	Fair Group chooses an unsuitable song. Group, produces a presentation which is lacking in organization, audience engagement, and/or presentation skills. Presentation has many distracting grammatical errors that impede meaning.
