Class Participation Grade Criteria 
Below is a chart that shows you exactly how your class participation grade will be evaluated. All students are expected to participate in class! Students should understand that their participation mark begins at 0 and then is built up through active participation. Students DO NOT automatically recieve a perfect participation mark at the beginning of the term and then "lose points" through non-participation.

Developing 1

Student is frequently unprepared for class with assignments and required materials, possibly attempting to submit some materials late. Often, student needs to be prompted to take notes.
LEVEL OF ENGAGEMENT AND BEHAVIOR

Mastery 2

Student asks questions, participates in pair/group discussions and does not blatantly use cell phone at all.
Achieving 1.5

Student asks questions, and participates in pair/group discussions. May have blatantly used cell phone at least once.
Developing 1

Student rarely participates in class, struggles with pair/group discussions. May have blatantly used cell phone two or three times.
ATTITUDE

Mastery 2

Student always presents a positive attitude towards the course, their fellow students, and their professor.
Achieving 1.5

Student usually presents a positive attitude towards the course, their fellow students, and their professor.
Developing 1

Student sometimes presents a positive attitude towards the course, their fellow students, and their professor.
BEHAVIOR

Mastery 2

Student always behaves morally and appropriately with other students and professor, both inside and outside the classroom.
Achieving 1.5

Student usually behaves morally and appropriately with other students and professor, both inside and outside the classroom.
Developing 1

Student sometimes behaves morally and appropriately with other students and professor, both inside and outside the classroom.
