Writing Rubric Given three sentences to write.
	Emerging 0 pts	Progress 1 pts	Mastered 2 pts
Capitalization Has a capital letter at the beginning of all three sentences.	Emerging Does not include a captial letter at begninning of the sentence.	Progress Uses capital letters as the first letter of a word at the beginning of a sentence some but not all of the time. Uses capital and lowercase letters accurately most of the time.	Mastered Uses capital letters as the first letter of a word at the beginning of a sentence all of the time. Uses capital and lowercase letters accurately all of the time.
Use of Words Has a subject first and then an action.	Emerging Does not include a subject or an action in sentences.	Progress Includes subject and action in some but not all sentences, or out of order.	Mastered Uses a subject and action in a complete sentence with correct meaning in all sentences.
Punctuation Adds a period	Emerging Does not add punctutation to any sentences.	Progress Adds punctuation to some but not all sentences or does not always use correct punctuation mark.	Mastered Uses punctuation correctly at the end of a sentence all of the time.
