Black Iron Pipe Thread Cutting 
The student will cut a piece of black iron gas pipe to the specified length, properly ream the pipe and properly thread both ends. Student will adhere to industry standards for safe work practice throughout the project.

Industry Standard

Correctly reamed pipe on both ends.
Threaded Cuts

Pipe has 7 - 8 perfect threads along with 2 - 3 incomplete threads.

Non-industry standard

Pipe is not threaded correctly on either end. There are not enough pipe threads cut or too many threads cut
Acceptable Standard

Pipe is not threaded correctly on one end of the pipe. the other end is threaded properly to industry standards of 7-8 complete perfect threads.
Industry Standard

Pipe is threaded correctly and has 7 - 8 complete perfect threads with 2-3 incomplete threads.
Finished Project

Meets Industry standard for perfection.

Non-industry standard

Project is not completed to Industry standards. Has major flaws. The threads on at least one end of the pipe are not correct. Length of pipe is incorrect. Pipe is not useable on a piping job.
Acceptable Standard

Project is completed to Industry standards. Pipe has minor flaws in length within 1/8" of specified length. The pipe threads are correct on end of the pipe. The other end the pipe threads are too short but can be corrected by rethreading Pipe if corrected would be usable on a piping job.
Industry Standard

Project is completed to Industry standards. Everything is correct cut to perfect length, pipe is properly reamed, 7 perfect threads cut on each end.
