Hypothesis	Excellent Student has a clearly stated hypothesis or reason for conducting the experiment with a heading.	Good Student has a hypothesis but the heading is missing.	Poor The hypothesis is disjointed or unclear. Reader is confused why student is conducting the experiment.	Incomplete Hypothesis is missing.
Definitions	Excellent Student has defined words necessary to understand the experiment with a clear heading.	Good Student has defined the words clearly and the heading is missing or student has the heading and one or two definitions are missing.	Poor Student has no heading and several definitions are missing.	Incomplete Student has no definitions and definitions were necessary for the understanding of the experiment.
Materials	Excellent Student has a heading and a list of materials required along with any and all necessary amounts.	Good Student is missing the heading or one or two materials are missing.	Poor Student has no heading and several materials are missing.	Incomplete Student does not have materials listed at all.
Procedures	Excellent Steps are numbered, logical and thorough enough to be repeated without question or confusion.	Good Steps are numbered, logical and thorough, but one or more steps are missing or confusing.	Poor Steps are logical, but somewhat confusing.	Incomplete Steps are not detailed or logical, and/or missing. It would be extremely difficult to follow or duplicate this experiment.
Result	Excellent Student clearly explains any data, making reference to key data points.	Good Student somewhat explains data, making reference to key data points.	Poor Student does not explain data.	Incomplete Data is not clearly represented or explained.
Conclusion	Excellent Conclusion answers the question based on data alone. Student explains if hypothesis was correct or incorrect and discusses possible explanations for results.	Good Conclusion answers the question based on redata alone. Student explains if hypothesis was correct or incorrect, showing an understanding of the scientific process.	Poor Conclusion answers the question based on data, but leaves some confusion.	Incomplete Conclusion is confusing and/or does not answer the research question. Student does not attempt to explain if hypothesis was correct or incorrect.
