With guidance and support from adults:

- Writes 1 -3 incomplete sentences about a topic

- Writes 2 or 3 possibly incomplete sentences about topic
- Topic sentence may be unclear or not included
- Uses 1-2 facts that may be unclear

- Writes 3 or more complete sentences about topic
- Provides a topic sentence
- Supplies at least 3 facts
