Captions	Excellent Captions are related to the scenes and the book, and the connections are appropriate and easy to understand.	Good Captions are related to the scenes and the book, and most connections are easy to understand.	Fair Captions are related to the scenes and the book, but the connections are less obvious and/or some scenes are not logical.	Poor Captions do not relate well to the scenes. There seems to be no connection or connections are very general/illogical.
Characters	Excellent The main characters are clearly identified, and their actions and dialogue are well-matched to their actions and dialogue in the book.	Good The main characters are clearly identified, and their actions and dialogue match actions and dialogue in the book.	Fair The main characters are identified, but actions and dialogue are too general to show their relationship to the book.	Poor It is hard to tell who the main characters are, or main characters in the comic are not the main characters in the book.
Settings and Details	Excellent Settings and details are directly related to the theme or purpose of the novel and enhance understanding of the scene.	Good Settings and details are directly related to the theme or purpose of the novel.	Fair Settings and details are somewhat related to the theme or purpose of the novel.	Poor Settings and details seem randomly chosen or distract the reader from the purpose or theme of the novel.
Spelling, Punctuation, and Grammar	Excellent There are no spelling, punctuation, or grammar errors.	Good There are 1-2 spelling, punctuation, or grammar errors.	Fair There are 3-4 spelling, punctuation, and grammar errors.	Poor there are more than 4 spelling, punctuation, and grammar errors.
