Memoir 
Students will narrate a personal memoir. The memoir should focus on the relationship of a person/place/thing and/or relate an event that had a substantial impact on the memoirist. The memoir must include effective use of dialogue, imagery, and a reflection, as well as a compelling lead paragraph and a memorable concluding paragraph.

There is an absence of narrative elements or an over-emphasis on informational text. Written like an autobiography.
Voice

Excellent

Style is natural and flows well. Tone matches topic. Vocabulary suits memoir, is used appropriately/ at appropriate times.
Satisfactory

Tone matches topic of memoir; style is natural; some slang, but does not distract greatly.
Fair

Diction is often informal. Tone does not always match topic of memoir; does not read well
