On time	Great Turned in on time.	Good N/A	Average N/A	Poor Not turned in on time.
Formatting	Great Correct paragraph formatting, title, and author.	Good Either has formatting issues, or is missing title or author.	Average Is missing two components: formatting, title, author.	Poor Incorrect formatting, no title, or author name.
Neat appearance	Great Paper is typed, wrinkle free, and may include a picture.	Good Paper is typed, but has wrinkles.	Average Paper is not typed, and is wrinkle free.	Poor Paper is not typed and not wrinkle free.
Transition Words	Great Properly uses transition words. Uses more several different transition words.	Good Properly uses transition words, but uses a limited number of words.	Average Has fewer than three mistakes in transition words.	Poor Has three or more mistakes in transition words.
Grammar/ Conventions	Great Good variety in sentence structure, correct punctuation, capitalization, and spelling, and an excellent use of word choice and variety.	Good Good variety in sentence structure, few mistakes in punctuation, capitalization, or spelling, and has a great use of word choice and variety.	Average Somewhat same sentence structure, some noticeable mistakes in punctuation, capitalization or spelling that slightly puts off the story, and has a solid use of word choice and variety.
