Student always pays attention and participates actively and regularly in class/ pair/group discussions. Takes the initiative and contributes voluntarily to discussions. Informed comments. Maintains active involvement throughout semester.

Student pays attention and generally participates in class/ pair/group discussions. Most of the time student is involved in class activities and contributes voluntarily to discussions.
FAIR

Student occasionally participates voluntarily in class / group discussions. Involvement in class discussion is sporadic and not consistent. In group activities does what is asked but not more. Comments are often uninformed.
POOR

Hardly ever participates voluntarily in class or in group discussions. Not concentrated on the class. Attention is elsewhere. Minimal interaction with other students. Comments, when offered, are often uninformed.
PREPARATION AND QUALITY OF WORK

Student is always well-prepared for class. Has clearly prepared well he assigned materials and tries to use the relevant vocabulary and grammar structures of the lesson in the discussion or class activities. High quality work showing initiative and effort.
GOOD

Student is usually prepared for class. Has prepared the assigned materials and usually tries to use the relevant vocabulary and grammar structures of the lesson in the discussion or class activities. Good quality work showing effort and dedication to master the material.
FAIR

Student is sometimes unprepared for class and has only partially prepared the required materials. Minimal effort to include relevant vocabulary or grammatical structures in discussion or class activities. Work is acceptable and fulfills the basic requirements.
POOR

Student is frequently unprepared for class. Fails to prepare the required material or does not fully complete it before class. No use of relevant vocabulary or grammatical structures in discussion or class activities. Work is poor, fulfilling minimally the specified requirements.
HOMEWORK

EXCELLENT

Always completes homework punctually and according to instructions.
GOOD

Completes most of the homework on time. Sometimes asks for an extension in advance. Homework is almost always completed according to instructions.
FAIR

Completes over half of the homework assignments on time. Sometimes requests to submit homework late. Sometimes hands in incomplete homework.
POOR

Homework assignments are late most of the time. Failed to complete more than 3 homework assignments. Regularly hands in partially completed homework. Frequent requests to submit homework late.
