Introduction	Proficiency Your essay begins with a question, a bold statement, or with a story. You tell your reader what the problem is. The history of your problem is included in this paragraph in a few sentences. A clear thesis statement is included.	Nearing Proficiency Your introduction includes a statement of the problem and your solution(s). Your introduction is either too brief and incomplete or two long and should be organized into more than one paragraph.	Beginning Steps Problem and/ or the solution(s) are not presented.	Points
Body	Proficiency You present at least three solutions. Each solution is presented clearly, giving supporting evidence and examples, discussed in detail. Each solution is presented in a separate and complete paragraph.	Nearing Proficiency Only one solution is given, and it lacks supporting detail and examples. Some aspects of the problem are addressed, but not completely. Only one example given.	Beginning Steps Problem is presented, but no solution is given. No examples of problem are given.	Points
Conclusion	Proficiency Conclusion restates the problem, the solution and the benefits of the solution. Your conclusion includes a call to action to tell your readers how they can get involved to solve the problem. Your conclusion leaves the reader with something to think about.	Nearing Proficiency Conclusion restates the problem and solution(s). Your conclusion does not call to readers to action and/ or does not explain how your solution(s) can have a positive effect. Grammar and Spelling	Proficiency Your essay includes complete sentences that begin in various ways. Your essay includes correct punctuation and capitalization.
