Class Participation Class Participation This rubric will evaluate the participation of a student based on active involvement, enthusiasm, preparation, attitude, and ability. Rubric Code: W84494 By dwickstrom Ready to use Public Rubric Subject: Music Type: Assessment Grade Levels: 6-8

Active Involvement	Poor Student is not involved with the class activity. Student needs constant reminders to get back on task.	Average Student is mostly engaged in the activity. Student needs a reminder to get back on task.	Excellent Student is constantly engaged in the activity. Student does not need reminders to stay on task.
Preparation	Poor Student did not bring any materials to class and has to borrow everything. Student did no work outside of the classroom and is not ready for class.	Average Student usually has materials, but may need to borrow some. Student practiced some and is mostly ready for class.	Excellent Student is ready with required materials for the class. Student has practiced and is ready for class.
Ability	Poor Student does not try to clap or vocalize rhythms or the student only tries some of the class period.	Average Student puts forth effort, but does not always complete the rhythms (vocally or clapping) correctly.	Excellent Student is always putting forth their best effort. Student can count, vocalize, and clap rhythms correctly and on the correct beats during the songs.
Enthusiasm	Poor Student acts bored and does not attempt to participate in the unit's activities.	Average Student actively participates in the unity or activity, but does not show desire to participate. Student is not excited to learn the unit.	Excellent Student is excited to learn about the unit. Student participates in the unit actively.
Attitude	Poor Student has a negative attitude. Student makes the experience bad for others around him or her.	Average Student is neutral about the unit and projects. Student spreads mixed feelings around the class, both positive and negative.	Excellent Student is positive about the projects being learned in class. Student enjoys the unit and shares the positive feelings with others.
