Excellent: A

Report includes: Problem/Question, Information/ResearchHypothesis, Experiment including materials and procedures, observations, and a conclusion.
Good: B

Report is mostly complete, but one or two minor details are missing.
Fair: C

Report is done, but the student did not follow directions, is incomplete, or there are significant errors in more than one place.
Poor: D

Report is mostly incomplete, difficult to understand, has errors.
Procedures

Excellent: A

Student answers questions completely and accurately including any necessary diagrams or drawings. A science backboard is used to display information.
Good: B

Students answer questions with most of the necessary diagrams or drawings. A science backboard is used to display information.
Fair: C

Students partially answer questions, if a diagram is included it is inaccurate and/or incomplete. Science backboard is only partially used.
Poor: D

Required work is incomplete and inaccurate.
Conclusions

Excellent: A

Clear and concise CONCLUSIONS are given. Conclusion addresses problem and states KNOWLEDGE GAINED. Conclusion and hypothesis are plainly connected.
Good: B

Conclusions are present and complete, knowledge gained is present, but not clear and concise. Hypothesis and conclusion are plainly connected.
Fair: C

Missing some parts of conclusion or knowledge gained. Connection between conclusion and hypothesis is not entirely clear.
Poor: D

Missing conclusion completely, or conclusion and hypothesis are not connected.
Application

Excellent: A

The student can explain the experiment and the concepts of vibration and pitch.
Good: B

The student can explain the experiment and its purpose.
Fair: C

The student can partially explain the experiment. The explanation doesn't fit the purpose.
Poor: D

The presentation of the experiment was confusing. The student didn't really understand the purpose.
