Writing Rubric This rubric is for writing.
	Ideas 5 pts	Organization 5 pts	Voice 5 pts	Sentence Fluency 5 pts	Word Choice 5 pts	Conventions 5 pts
Strong 5 pts	Ideas Clear and focused. Holds the reader's attention. Fun and original idea.	Organization The central idea is showcased. The flow is smooth. Good pace not changing. Good transitions.	Voice Reader is invited into the story.	Sentence Fluency Has an easy flow. Uses different sentence styles. There is a rhythm when reading.	Word Choice Keeps the story interesting. Words enhance the meaning of the story. High Energy.	Conventions Spelling is correct, grammar is correct , capitalization is correct.
Effective 4 pts	Ideas Reader is left in question about some things. Knows where the story is headed.	Organization The reader has 1 or 2 questions, but able to understand the story. Well paced needs stronger changing phrases.	Voice Mixed between being involved and standing by.	Sentence Fluency Some variety in sentences.	Word Choice Good Energy. Word variety is coming together.	Conventions Small errors in spelling, grammar, and capitaliztaion
Developing 3 pts	Ideas Starting to develop an idea. Reader is left with many questions	Organization The reader can move through the story with little struggle. Pace is controlled, but pace changes 1 or 2 times.	Voice Not fully involved, but enough to connect with the reader.	Sentence Fluency Sentences are structured, but little variety. 1 or 2 awkward moments.	Word Choice Lacks eneregy. Has 1 or 2 strong moments. Uses everday parts of speech.	Conventions End punctuations is missing or wrong. Most capitalization is correct. Grammar problems not serious.
Emerging 2 pts	Ideas Not sure what the main idead is. Very broad statements.	Organization Has a hard time reading the story. Not sure. The story is moving quicly, then slowly, not at a steady pace.	Voice Starting to engage the reader, but still lacks involvement in the story.	Sentence Fluency Slightly choppy sentences. No variety in sentences. Awkward at times.	Word Choice Low energy. Showing some variety in words.	Conventions Many errors in 2 or more areas.
Not Yet 1 pts	Ideas Not Clear of Idea	Organization Not sure where the story is headed.	Voice Writer is not sure of idea. Not wanting to engage the reader.	Sentence Fluency Sentences are choppy.
