VALUE

BEGINNING

Did not create value in drawing. No transitions. Only black and white. No shading techniques used. No highlights, shadows are light source are drawn.

Some highlights and shadows are observed, but not very accurately and they do not match the light source.
PROFICIENT

Student observed and shaded highlights and shadows. Viewer can see where the light source comes from.

Student accurately observed and shaded highlights and shadows, and the direction of the light source is apparent.

BEGINNING

Use of line types is minimal at best, and does not show interest or personal content. No care or very little care was given to application of line.

Two different types of lines were used, but did not give much personal content to drawing. Offers some visual interest in variation. Line was sometimes drawn with sensitivity and variation but was not consistently interesting or was impatiently applied in some areas

BEGINNING

There is no texture present.
DEVELOPING

There is only smooth texture in the drawing.
PROFICIENT

The student used two different textures and knows there are several but is limited in their knowlege of creating texture.
ACCOMPLISHED

Student used more than two textures and it has created the idea of variety.
MASTERED

Student realistically created several textures and has made a realistic interpretation of their subject matter. They understand making them change shape with the objects.
