Student cleaned their station before and after they started their highlight services. All bowls, brushes, clips ,and foils were cleaned and disposed of in the proper trash receptacles or put away in the correct area.

Student cleaned their station. Student cleaned their bowls, brushes, clips and threw away their foils. Most of their tools and trash was disposed of and put away in the correct area.

Students cleaned up some of their area and some of their tools and trash. Station was left without sanitizing.

Application of Product (35)

Exemplary

Student applied product to the hair on the foil 1/4 inch away from the scalp. The product was even and smooth through out the whole foil. Hair was saturated and no dry spots were found.

Student applied product to the hair on the foil 1/4 inch away from the scalp. The product was smooth in some areas . Hair was saturated but not completely consistent.

Student was more then 1/4 in away or too close to the scalp. The foils were consistent in some areas . The product was either too saturated or under saturated.

Student applied the product in an unsafe manner. All proper steps were not taken and the application of the product was a danger to the client.
Application of Foils (20)

Exemplary

Foils were clean a folded in half. No double folding was performed on and foil.

Foils were clean most of the time. Foils were folded and no doubling folding was performed. A few foils were lose but followed the proper procedures.
Needs Improvement

Foils were lose. Proper procedure was not followed. Foils were double folded or done in a way that was not acceptable.
Unacceptable

Foils were not used at all. Student had complete disregard for any procedures, techniques or proper application of foils.
Sectioning (10)

Exemplary

Sections were straight, clean, and consistent throughout the whole service. Hair was left out between each foil evenly and consistent with the rest of the foils on the mannequin.
Proficient

Most of the sections were straight and clean. Some of the sections were not consistent with the other foils on the mannequins head.
Needs Improvement

Sectioning was not consistent throughout the service. Some foils did not have hair left between the foils or too much was left between the foils.
Unacceptable

Sectioning was not used at all during the service.
