Did not correctly use Chicago Style.	Fair May include some of the same problems in previous column, but to a minor degree. May include one weak source. Citations may not be correctly formatted in Chicago Style.	Good Includes at least 5 sources, all of which are valid and academic; sources are correctly formatted in the Chicago Style (may refer to Bibme.org); one book source, one academic journal, and a primary source was included.
Thesis/Development	Poor Lacks a clear thesis: a statement plus assertion. The paper lacks focus, and does not stick to the thesis and theme.	Fair Lacks a strong thesis with statement plus assertion. The paper is occaisionally off-topic, and lacks some focus. Thesis is addressed throughout paper, but could be more thouroughly addressed.	Good Has a solid thesis with a statement plus assertion. Throughout the paper, the student remains on-topic, and adequately proves the thesis.
Writing/Style	Poor The paper is poorly written; it lacks a flow, and includes awkard phrases such as "this quote." Long quotations are not single-spaced and indented; paper can be off-topic; lacks academic rigor. Poor grammer/syntax.	Fair The paper is rather dull to read; only some audience awareness; some fallacies may be present; lacks a reasonable degree of academic rigor. Some grammer/syntax issues pressent.	Good Strong audience awareness; paper is interesting to read, acadmically rigorous; author avoids banal phrases such as "this quote," avoids fallacies and overgeneralizations. Few, if any, grammatical/spelling errors present.
