Introduction / Thesis statement	EXCELLENT EXCELLENT (30 Well developed introduction and thesis sentence. Covers both subjects & author's point for comparison and contrast.	GOOD GOOD (2O) Introduction and thesis statement are fairly well developed, cover both subjects, but are not engaging.	FAIR FAIR (10) Does not give accurate and compete information or does not emphasize the major point of comparison.	POOR POOR (5) Do not introduce both subjects, not complete, no controlling points
Mechanics 30 points	EXCELLENT No errors in punctuation, spelling, punctuation, grammar or capitalization.	GOOD A few minor grammatical errors. Did not detract from the overall flow.
