Writer does not demonstrate distinct style.	Level three Writer shows some creativity in this composition, however, a stronger voice is needed.	Level 4 Work is very creative and shows flair for writing. Writer demonstrates a unique style.
Mechanics/Format	Level One There are several severe errors in spelling, grammar, puntuation, etc. that are distracting to the reader. The format is completely incorrect.	Level Two There are many distracting errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc. Format is not entirely correct.	Level three There are some distracting errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc., but overall meaning is still clear. Format is mostly correct.	Level 4 There are few errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, etc. Format is correct.
Information (5 Ws)	Level One Little information is given in the writing.	Level Two Article makes no attempt to connect as a whole. All parts of the required information are not present.	Level three Article covers most of the 5 Ws but leaves out some key details.	Level 4 Information is relevant, complete, and reads like a real news report.
Verbal Presentation	Level One Presentation was not performed or previously taped for the class.	Level Two Presentation was too short with little to no eye contact made with the audience.	Level three Presenter had a clear voice, made minimal eye contact with audience, and the length was satisfactory.
