Identifying Sound Fluency

Students will be given a set of four colored picture cards. They will then be asked to state the beginning sound associated with each picture card.

Intensive

When given a set of four pictures, the student is only able to correctly state the beginning sound of 1 or 2 pictures at most.
Strategic

When given a set of four pictures, the student is able to correctly state the beginning sound of 3 pictures.
Benchmark

When given a set of four pictures, the student is able to correctly state the beginning sound of all 4 pictures.
Phoneme Segmentation Fluency

Students will be given 4 words that contain 3 phonemes each and asked to tell all the sounds in that word (i.e. tell me all the sounds in the word "mop." response /m/ /o/ /p/) 1 point per sound.

Intensive

When given the 4 words (12 sounds total) student is only able to correctly state 8 or fewer sounds.
Strategic

When given the 4 words (12 sounds total) student is able to correctly state 9-10 sounds.
Benchmark

When given the 4 words (12 sounds total) student is only able to correctly state 11-12 sounds.
Nonsense Word Fluency

Student will be given 4 make believe words and asked to sound each word out by telling each sound or reading the whole word (i.e. "lut" can be either /l/ /u/ /t/ or lut).

Intensive

When shown 4 words, the student is only able to correctly sound out 1 or 2 words at most.
Strategic

When shown 4 words, the student is able to correctly sound out 3 words.
Benchmark

When shown 4 words, the student is able to correctly sound out all 4 words.
