Response is non threatening. Offered a reason. Other person's feelings are acknowledged. If standing up to pressure, I-statements are being used. Response is assertive.
Use of Saying No	Poor Agrees to scenario. Does not stand up to pressure. Does not offer an excuse or alternatives.	Fair Stands up to pressure, but does not use the words no.
