Children's Story Children's Story The student will create a complete 8 page children's book/story based on the assigned ideology or personality. The target audience are third grade students. the learning outcome is that student's will deepen their understanding of a biography or ideology by reducing it to it's simplest terms and utilize illustration, fable, allegory and other devises to communicate effectively. Key Concepts	Fair Fails to identity and explain the key concepts. The average reader is confused after a reading and cannot explain what the point of the story is.	Good Somewhat identifies and explains the key concepts. The average reader can mostly explain what the story is about.	Excellent Clearly identifies and explains the key concepts. The average reader is moved after reading the story and wants to read it over & over for pure enjoyment.
Grade Appropriate	Fair Fails to communicate using age appropriate vocabulary and reasoning ability.	Good Somewhat communicates using age appropriate vocabulary and reasoning ability.	Excellent Effectively communicates using age appropriate vocabulary and reasoning ability.
Key People/Field of Endeavor	Fair Fails to describe the key figures, their influence and explain the field of human endeavor to which the person or concepts apply.	Good Somewhat describes the key figures, their influence and explains the field of human endeavor to which the person or concepts apply.	Excellent Effectively describes the key figures, their influence and explains the field of human endeavor to which the person or concepts apply.
Quality of Product	Fair "Book" is messy, hastily put together, less than five pages, obviously a late-night- day- before- it -was due project.	Good Book is 5-9 pages, mostly neat & colorful, binding is adequate but not extraordinary. Time & effort apparent, but somewhat lacking in over-all excellence.	Excellent Book is more than ten pages, exceptionally organized & neat, colorful, professional-looking binding. Much time & effort in not only writing, but putting the book together.
Creativity	Fair There is little or no creativity demonstrated.	Good The story demonstrates some uniqueness in it's approach to communicating.	Excellent The story is special in that it goes beyond the expected scope of the assignment and demonstrates an unusually effective approach to the task and objectives.
Illustrations	Fair Either no illustrations or so few or messy pictures that detract from the text. Or, graphics are computer generated from clip-art that display no originality or purpose.	Good Simple illustrations or drawings or graphics that adequately match the text.	Excellent Exceptional, detailed, thoughtful illustrations/graphics that accentuate the text and/or could stand alone without captions.
