Body (Sequence of Events)	Excellent Events are placed in a logical order and the way they are presented effectively keeps the interest of the reader. (400 words or more)	Good Most events are in a logical order but some are either missing or in the wrong order and this distracts the reader. (400 words)	Fair Most events are placed in a logical order, but it is evident that events were not included from from the timeline assignment. (300 words or less)	Poor Many events are not in logical order. There is little sense that the writing is organized. The timeline was not used as a graphic organizer for this assignment. (less than 200 words)
Grammar, Spelling, & Punctuation	Excellent Writer makes no mistakes in grammar, spelling, or punctuation.	Good Writer makes 1-4 mistakes in grammar, spelling, or punctuation.	Fair Writer makes 5-7 mistakes in grammar, spelling, or punctuation.	Poor Writer makes more that 8 mistakes in grammar, spelling, and punctuation that distract the reader from the content.
Hook	Excellent The beginning of the story includes a detailed hook that draws the reader in. It clearly sets the tone for the story.	Good There is a hook present, however it is very brief. It is used to draw the reader in	Fair The hook is only 1 sentence. It is only briefly mentioned, and partially sets the tone for the story.	Poor The hook is missing from the story. Writer immediately jumps into the events of the story.
Conclusion	Excellent The conclusion is inviting in the wrapping up of all events.	Good The conclusion is not particularly organized but wraps up the end of the autobiography. Lesson/Theme	Excellent There is a clear lesson or meaning that is meant to be taken from the story. The lesson to be learned is present throughout the story, and touched on in the conclusion as well.
