Watercolor Still Life
Art I Students will take a still life photo of mixed fruit and turn it into a watercolor painting. Each area of the rubric is worth 20 points.

Drawing has few details. It is primarily representational. Proportion and drawing accuracy is accurate, only minor errors.

Drawing is somewhat detailed. Proportion and drawing accuracy was attempted, but only fairly successful.
Above Proficiency
Drawing is strong. Shapes, proportion, and drawing accuracy is spot on.
Value and Color
Below Proficiency
Value range includes only 3 or less values. Looks flat, lacks depth. Value not created within the colored portions.Students needs to work on learning color relationships and applying that knowledge to work.
Approaching Proficiency
Nice range of value used accurately. The illusion of form is developed and fairly convincing. Creation of value in color is present and well and appropriately created.Choice and application of color shows some knowledge of color relationships. Colors are however, not appropriate for the idea being expressed.
