The introduction & thesis statement create interest and are fairly well developed. But while they contain and/or introduce the process, they are not very engaging; although, they do cover the whole process.
Adequate
The introduction & thesis statement are vague and/or unclear. Although an attempt is made, they do not give accurate and complete information. May be also lack detail and creativity.
Insufficient
The introduction & thesis statement do not introduce the process. No controlling point about the process is evident.
Body Paragraphs

Each paragraph contains a clearly focused topic sentence that relates to the process being described. Details in the essay are clear and specific, and there are enough details to help the reader see and understand all the steps of process. Concrete sense language is used effectively.

Writing is clear, but sentences may lack variety. The tone is inconsistent and word choice, while adequate, does not clearly explain the process. 5-6 errors in punctuation, grammar, spelling, and capitalization that distract the reader and interfere with the meaning and intent of the essay.
Insufficient
Writing is confusing and hard to follow. Contains fragments and/or run-on sentences. The tone and purpose is inconsistent and difficult to determine. The word choice is inadequate and the process is not explained. 7 or more errors in grammar, punctuation, spelling, and capitalization. Serious errors in capitalization, punctuation, and spelling will result in an automatic 1.
