Photosynthesis Project Students will be able to demonstrate their understanding of photosynthesis by creating a tool that can be used to teach it to a student who is deaf. There are basics required by all and then 3 formats to choose from depending on technology skills, interest and readiness. There are 3 levels within each format and a secondary level for each of those if choosing more complex vocabulary from a bank of required and challenge words. Vocabulary	Novice Shows minimal understanding of required terms.	Progressing Shows basic understanding of required terms.	Meets Shows clear understanding of required terms.	Exceeds Shows sophisticated understanding of required terms.
Concepts	Novice Contextual use of terms in explaining concepts shows many errors and or the standard is not addressed.	Progressing Contextual use of terms in explaining concepts shows few errors evident. Standard has been addressed.	Meets Contextual use of terms in explaining concepts shows no errors evident. Standard has been addressed.	Exceeds Contextual use of terms in explaining concepts has been done skillfully. Standard has been addressed.
Application	Novice The product would be difficult for a deaf student to use/understand without extensive support. Level 3-Interective on web	Novice Not interactive or no animations- only static figures. May be confusing to follow. Should not be published to the web. Level 2-Graphic organizer	Novice Difficult to follow- confusing. Not color coded in anyway.	Progressing Simple design but easy to follow. Concepts are color coded but may need more clarification to get all the concepts.	Meets Easy to follow with color coded concepts and is a very useful, clear tool for learning, teaching or review. Level 1-Board display	Novice Some simple illustrations and basic terms are connected. Not all illustrations may have a clear purpose. May be confusing or wordy in places. Level 2-Computer Comic book	Novice Few panels present and character roles not well defined. Not all concepts present and may be confusing to follow. Level 1-Play book	Novice Script has few scene changes or cues related to the actual processes- does not read like a play. Characters and roles not clear- not well developed or content is lost in the story line.	Progressing Reads as a play script with adequate scene changes and cues generally related to the actual processes. Characters and roles clear and well developed Some content may be lost in the story line.	Meets Reads as a play script with appropriate scene changes and cues related to the actual processes.
