Your writing demonstrates that you have knowledge of that time period.	Good The writing includes a true topic from history. Some facts are interwoven into your story and they are accurate to your time period. Your writing demonstrates that you have some knowledge of history.	Fair A time period or historical event is mentioned in your paper, but not connected to any other events or facts in your story. It is not evident that you understand the historical time period you talk about.	Poor You did not include any reference to historical time periods or events/OR your time periods and facts are incorrect.
Writing Clarity	Excellent Your writing stays on topic and makes sense. It has a definite beginning, middle and end, where there is a problem, solution and conclusion.	Good Your writing stays on topic and makes sense. It has a beginning, middle and end, where there is a problem and conclusion.	Fair Your writing has one main topic, but contains some information off topic. The writing is easy to read, but could use some revision.	Poor The main idea of the writing piece is unclear. There is not one problem and resolution. The writing is difficult to understand.
Details	Excellent You used sophisticated vocabulary to help you describe the setting, develop the characters and did a lot of showing instead of telling.	Good Your characters are well developed. You used descriptive words that helped readers understand the setting of the story even more.	Fair Your writing contains some details. May include description of setting and characters personalities.	Poor Your writing contains little details.
Editing	Excellent No grammatical and punctuation errors are present in your writing.	Good Two or less grammatical and punctuation errors are present in your writing.	Fair Less than 7 grammatical or punctuation errors are present in your writing.	Poor There are more than 7 editing errors in your writing.
