Beginning
Student has trouble with throwing and grip. Throwing motion and follow through are inconsistent.
Approaching
Student is able to grip and throw the ball properly. Accuracy will improve with more practice.
Meeting
Student demonstrates proper grip and throwing motion. Accuracy is evident in most attempts.
Catching/Receiving
Beginning
Student has difficulty catching the ball. Hand and body position are often incorrect. Student sometimes uses their body to help them catch the ball.
Approaching
Student catches the ball most of the time. Has trouble when the ball is not thrown right to them. Proper hand and body position are evident.
Meeting
Student can consistently catch the ball while stationary and moving. Body and hand position are excellent.
Kicking
Beginning
Student has difficulty kicking the ball. Proper technique is evident, but needs lots of work.
Approaching
Student can kick a ball properly. Proper technique is often used. Accuracy will improve with more practice.
Meeting
Student always uses proper form and technique when kicking the ball. Accuracy is evident in most attempts.
Striking
Beginning
Student has difficulty striking the object with hand or racquet. Body position and follow through need more work.
Approaching
Student can consistently strike the object with hand or racquet. Body position and follow through are proper. Accuracy will improve with more practice.
Meeting
Student is able to consistently strike the object with hand or racquet. Proper form and technique are always evident. Accuracy is evident in most attempts.
