Content: Main Event	Poor The writing does not give enough information to adequately explain the main plot and important subplots.	Fair The writing gives some information about the main plot and important subplots.	Good The writing effectively summarizes the problem and events leading to the problem.
Characters	Poor one or no characters are analyzed	Fair Two characters are analyzed and their importance to the story is evident.	Good Three or more characters in the story are analyzed and their connection to the plot is made evident.
Setting	Poor No setting is mentioned in the summary	Fair A mention of setting , but no connection is made to how it affects the story	Good Setting is analyzed and its connection is made evident in the story
Conventions	Poor There are severe spelling, grammar, and/or punctuation errors.	Fair There are several spelling, grammar, and/or punctuation errors.	Good There are very few spelling, grammar, and/or punctuation errors.
