Knowledge of Dance steps and Moves Remembers dancesteps and moves, can follow along with class	Unsatisfactory Remembers a few of the steps/ movements and tries, but looks lost and out of sync with others.	Needs Improvement Demonstrates some knowledge of dancesteps and moves, but unsure of some movements. Sometimes hesitates/ watches others and makes some errors.	Good Demonstrates good knowledge of dancesteps and moves. Keeps up with partner. Few errors.	Excellent Demonstrates excellent knowledge of all the dance steps and moves and performs them well.
Knowledge of basic swing step Performance of the basic swing step.	Unsatisfactory The student can not perform the basic step.	Needs Improvement Student can perform most of the basic step.	Good Student can perform the basic step, but still has trouble with certain parts.	Excellent Student can perform the basic step with ease and grace.
Rhythm/Tempo Overall rhythm and tempo and ability to keep the beat to the music.	Unsatisfactory Attempts to keep a rhythm, but gets off beat and speeds up or falls behind often. Doesn't follow beat in music.	Needs Improvement Shows a basic understanding of tempo and beat, but falls behind and/or speeds up in places or makes errors in rhythm.	Good Generally accurate in beat, tempo, rhythms of dance sequences most of the time.	Excellent Shows a complete understanding of tempo and beat and stays on rhythmn throughout the dance.
Cooperation with partner How does the student work with partner while demonstrating the moves.	Unsatisfactory Little effort made to contribute to dance.	Needs Improvement Cooperative most of time, but not attentive or well prepared to dance.	Good Cooperative with Partner and ready to perform.	Excellent Always respects and shows consideration for other partner. Prepared, well- rehearsed and attentive. Fun to watch!
