Student contribution is minimal and/or difficult to understand.

Student contribution is timely but lacks the detail necessary to show thorough understanding of material. Student does not include references to classroom discussion/video/reading.

Student contribution is strong, fact based and shows basic understanding of the book- with textual references!
*Additionally, there are thoughtful responses to other entries.
Excellent

Student contribution is strong, substantial and shows thorough understanding of the book (with textual references). Student has included original ideas that promote further thinking.
Mechanics

Poor

Blog entries use incorrect grammar and spelling, consistently making it difficult for others to follow ideas in entry. Entries are not in complete sentences and do not follow the short answer format.
Fair

Blog entries show some evidence of correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc. Others will have little trouble following your entry. Entries are not in complete sentences but show effort in following short answer formats.
Good

Blog entries show a good command of Standard English. Few spelling or grammatical errors. Some issues with complete sentences or format of short answers.
Excellent

Blog entries meet all requirements for a 3 AND have no spelling or grammatical errors. All entries are written in complete sentences and follow short answer format.

Student does not attempt to address topic OR creates a response intended to get a laugh without contributing to conversation.
Fair

Student makes an attempt to create a blog post based on the discussion question but posts ideas that are similar or identical to those of other students.
Good

Student uses classroom discussion as a springboard to deeper thought. Original ideas are proposed.
Excellent

Student "thinks out of the box" proposing ideas that are thought provoking, show seriousness of thought about the topic, and require higher order thinking of others.
