Level One
Poems appear to be thoughtless or rushed
-Work is very repetitive, and ideas are impersonal or unoriginal
Level Two
The poems show some creativity but appear to be rushed; This is evident in the poet's repetition of themes
Level Three
Poems are thoughtful and creative; Some phrases or themes may be revisited, but the overall anthology contains solid ideas and is interesting
Level Four
Poems are unique and very thoughtful; It is evident that the poet put thought into their work and innovatively conveyed their ideas and emotions; depth and variety are shown throughout
Form
Level One
Poems are not written in the proper forms, which lowers the poetic value of the writer's collection.
Minimal understanding is evident.

Level Two
Poems are somewhat written in the proper forms, while others stray significantly or are written as narrative

Poems are mostly written in the proper forms.

Poems follow their intended form and demonstrate ingenuity in theme or subject matter.

Level One
Chosen vocabulary is repetitive or simple, and may not reflect the mood or form in many poems
-Minimal revision is evident
Level Two
Chosen vocabulary is repetitive in places, and may not always be suited to the form or mood, or is standard
-Some revision is evident
Level Three
The chosen vocabulary is suited to the form or mood, is solid and shows considerable revision
Level Four
The vocabulary is carefully chosen to suit the mood or form, is precise and vivid and shows thorough revision
Grammar and Conventions
Level One
There are numerous spelling or grammar errors, making the poem difficult to understand
-Puncutation is used incorrectly
Level Two
The poet's intended meaning is muddled by several spelling or grammar errors
-Punctuation may be misused
Level Three
A couple of spelling or grammar mistakes are evident, but do not diminish the meaning of the poem
Level Four
Proper use of English spelling and grammar is used consistently throughout the poem
-Punctuation is used when necessary
Organization of Poems
Level One
The poems are distractingly messy or very poorly organized
-Table of contents is not present, or shows poor organization of poems
-Few graphics or pictures used
Level Two
The poems are acceptably attractive, though maybe a bit disorganized
-Table of contents shows an attemp to organize poems in a logical way
-Some graphics or pictures used
Level Three
The poems are attractive in terms of design, organization and neatness
-Table of Contents shows logical organization of poems
-Use of graphics and pictures evident to enhance presentation
Level Four
The poems are exceptionally attractive in terms of design, organization and neatness
-Table of Contents shows original organization of poems
-Use of applicable graphics and pictures evident to enhance presentation
