Facial Expressions

Greatly Lacking

We used only small or normal facial expressions. Or our faces were hidden or in profile too much. We broke character several times and did not commit fully and physically to telling the story.
Fair
Very Good

We used good facial expressions that were obvious and purposeful, but we sometimes broke character and sometimes dropped our commitment to fully and physically telling the story.
Outstanding
THEE BEST POSSIBLE

We consistently used exaggerated and dramatic facial expressions while staying in character throughout the scene. We committed fully to the physicalization of our characters.
Body Language & Movement

Greatly Lacking

We did not use effective, thought out physical gestures, postures and body movements to create our characters.
Fair
Very Good

We tried but fell a little short to use physical gestures, postures and body movements to effectively create our characters.
Outstanding
THEE BEST POSSIBLE

We consistently used physical gestures, postures and body movements to effectively create our characters.
Original Script or Use of Script

Greatly Lacking

We did not construct an interesting, unique and purposeful story that gave character(s) a clear who, what and where. Characters did not take a journey; Script did not have a clear beginning, middle and end.
Fair
Very Good

We tried but fell a little short to construct an interesting, unique and purposeful story that gave character(s) a clear who, what and where. Characters took a short, perhaps incomplete journey; Script had a relatively clear beginning, middle and end.
Outstanding
THEE BEST POSSIBLE

We constructed an interesting, unique and purposeful story that gave character(s) a clear who, what and where. Characters had a clear journey; Script had a strong, memorable beginning, middle and end.
Effort During Prep/Performance

Greatly Lacking

We did not put time, energy and thought into the preparation and presentation. We did not reread the script for coherency, revise the script for improvement, or practice the script with a narrator.
Fair
Very Good

We tried but fell a little short to put forth better effort into the preparation and presentation. We reread the script and considered it coherent. We could have revised the script for improvement before the presentation, we practiced quickly with a narrator, but could have taken it more seriously.
Outstanding
THEE BEST POSSIBLE

We put the best time, energy and thought into the preparation and presentation. We reread the script out loud together, made improvements to the story, and added actions for the characters. We practiced more than once with a narrator and talked about how we could better exaggerate our characters movements.
