Notes-main idea/questions	Needs Work The student has not written one main idea and/or question per page for the assigned pages.	Satisfactory The student has written at least one main idea/ or question per page or the assigned pages.	Excellent The student has completed 2 or more ideas and/or questions per page for 80 % of the assigned pages.
Responses	Needs Work The student did not write a response for the majority of required responses or the majority of written responses are less than the five sentence length required.	Satisfactory The student meets the requirement of writing a five sentence response for the majority of required responses.	Excellent The students exceeds the five sentences required for the majority of required responses.
Author's Viewpoint & Cause & Effect	Needs Work The student does not complete the required assignment or fails to demonstrate an understanding of author's viewpoint and cause & effect.	Satisfactory The student completes the required assignment and demonstrates an understanding of author's viewpoint and cause & effect.	Excellent The student exceeds the required assignment and demonstrates an excellent understanding of author's viewpoint and cause & effect.
Vocabulary- Word Study	Needs Work Student fails to complete a word study for at least 10 words.	Satisfactory Student completes a word study for the requirement - 10 words.	Excellent Student completes the word study and exceeds the 10 words required by at least 5 words.
