iRubric: Essay Writing rubric

My Mindmap has four or less ideas. And/or the ideas are not related to the topic.

I have some good ideas that are related to the topic but not enough for a whole essay.

I have enough ideas to support my essay, they are clearly structured.

My body paragraph has no support, and no examples to back up my thesis.

My body Paragraph gives at least one clear example or piece of evidence to back up my thesis.

My body paragraph gives at least two clear examples or pieces of evidence to help back up my thesis.

I have no clear Introduction to my Essay, it just begins.

I do have an introduction but it is too short (only one or two sentences) or too long (a whole page). And/or it is not related to the topic or gives the same information as the body paragraphs later.

I do have an informative introduction of appropriate length (about half a page).

I do not have any citations and/or I did not mark the citations I used and presented them as my own.

I do have citations but not in every body paragraph. The citations are too long (there is no work written by me). The citations and the works cited list are not done in the requested MLA style.

I do have one citation or more in each paragraph in addition to my own work. They are cited correctly as well as the Works Cited list.
